Experts ranging from a Los Angeles nonprofit to development and architecture firms in Sacramento identified the big solutions Thursday morning to meeting a necessity for solving the Sacramento region’s issue of homelessness.

Perhaps surprisingly, money wasn’t one of them. Much more important, said panelists at an Urban Land Institute event in South Natomas, is political will from the decision-makers to build supportive housing, and private sector, government and nonprofits all pulling the same way to make such housing a reality.

“If we’re not all going to go in the same direction, we’re going to spin,” said Chris Holt, an architect with Dreyfuss & Blackford Architecture.
