With lawsuits still active, Elk Grove City Council is taking up again this week a potential decision on the contentious Oak Rose Apartments affordable housing project.

The council’s agenda for Wednesday evening includes an item to possibly approve the 67-unit supportive housing project, though the item appeared on agendas last year without approval — and with a lot of pushback from city residents.

“Despite the City’s best efforts, an agreement has not been reached and litigation remains active,” city Public Affairs Manager Kristyn Laurence said in an email, referring to a suit filed in 2022 by Oak Rose’s developer, Excelerate Housing Group, over the city’s refusal to approve the project.
