An affordable housing project proposed near California State University Sacramento has been resubmitted, but with the unit count going down rather than up.
River City Apartments, at 1601 69th St. in Sacramento, is now being proposed for 66 rather than 90 apartments, though still in a five-story project.
“In order to be competitive for the tax credits and bonds, we had to finagle the the design of the project to reduce construction costs and now we believe we have a competitive project,” said Alex Earl, a development analyst for Carlsbad-based Chelsea Investment Corp., the project developer.
