With their sale completed, two hotel properties on Howe Avenue are in the middle of renovations to turn them into affordable housing.
Records show the closed Arden Star hotel at 1413 Howe Ave. and the Rodeway Inn at 25 Howe Ave. sold in recent weeks to, respectively, San Francisco-based The John Stewart Company and Sacramento-based nonprofit Hope Cooperative.
“It’s currently under construction and expected to be leased up by the end of the year,” Karina Riley, external affairs manager at Hope Cooperative, said in an email of the Rodeway Inn property, which opened in 1980.
