Solving Sacramento is a journalism collaborative that covers local news and solutions. We unite and strengthen the region’s newsrooms, raising the resources needed to keep our diverse communities informed and engaged.
We work with local contributors to produce journalism from a solutions perspective, which offers an antidote to the typical doom-and-gloom coverage that contributes to audiences’ news burnout. Our small editorial team works everyday to rebuild trust in the media among our community members.
We have eight partners in our collaborative, which means our work is distributed by long-standing local news institutions in our community. By supplying our readers with stories centered on solutions, we aim to cultivate hope among residents, who then feel empowered — and equipped — to make positive change for Sacramento. We also aim to build up the next generation of local reporters to serve our region.
We cover affordable housing, homelessness, economic equity, education, health, arts and the environment. We also have a monthly arts and culture podcast called “Creativity in the Capital,” a “Sac Art Pulse” print zine, two newsletters, and Hangout Gigs, our video music series.
As a collaborative founded in early 2022, we operate on the premise that we can do more together than we can do alone. We hope you’ll join us by supporting our work.
