Not too long ago, Keith Lowell Jensen attended a storytelling show held in a Bay Area town with his friends Aaron Carnes and Amy Bee, and on the drive home they had an idea: They needed to do this in Sacramento.
Earlier this year, Jensen, Carnes and Bee launched the monthly “In a Nutshell” storytelling series at The Sofia in Sacramento. “We just came together so fast,” Jensen says. “And the storytelling community, even in the Bay Area, is so excited about it. I mean, we just went to a storytelling show in Oakland, and people are like lining up to come to our table and talk to us.”
Jensen is a writer, comedian and musician who grew up in Roseville and has long been part of Sacramento’s creative scene. He recently met up with podcast co-host Nick Brunner for a conversation about the Nutshell series, local comedians he expects to blow up and his emotional experience traveling to Ukraine in 2023.
